I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve stayed in plenty of places that look good on the website. The Belfry, however, was outstanding in every aspect! Fantastic room, beautiful area, excellent host as is the breakfast.10/10 no doubts

We stay in 3 rooms. All of the rooms were comfy and well equipped. Breakfast was lovely. And the host were friendly and welcoming. Would stay again.

I stayed for a few nights, very welcoming helpful and accomadating as always,the bed was very comfortable,I had a lovely night's sleep each night, the breakfast tastes wonderful with plenty of choice and well presented. The room was very clean with premium facilities such as tea, coffee and toiletries. Thank you for a lovely stay as always.

I have stayed at the Belfry twice now. It is run by a lovely couple. The hotel is immaculately clean with little thoughtful extras for the stay. The breakfast is freshly cooked to order and fab.

This is the fourth time that I have stayed at the Belfry over the years and I am pleased to say that it is as excellent as ever with lovely rooms , friendly hosts and a top quality breakfast set in beautiful scenic surroundings.

Stayed for one night at the Belfry it was so warm and comfortable, it’s right by the road but you wouldn’t know, the room had everything you wanted a very comfortable bed and a great shower, would certainly stay here again.

Very clean and excellent breakfast

We had a great night at The Belfry. We had a warm welcome and the room was lovely with everything we could need for a comfortable stay. We particularly enjoyed the very powerful shower ( compared to ours at home!) and the extremely tasty breakfast! We'd also recommend the York Inn for food, darts and pool!

What a find! A one-night quick stop en route to see friends in Cornwall. Well adapted old building with double glazing so nice and cozy.Room was clean & tidy. Bed was old style brass bed, excellent mattress and pillows.Bathroom was, for a small establishment, first class. Great shower cubicle with all the extras you could want. Nice little touches that made it very home from home. A small pair of scissors to cut open those blood coffee sachets and the biscuits were in a little tin. Touches like this make travelling a much more pleasant experience.10/10 I will be using it again

This is a fantastic B&B we found and we highly recommend it. We stopped for only one night as we were passing through. There are good parking facilities. The Belfry has lovely clean comfortable rooms, great beds and ensuite facilities. There was an amazing breakfast and very friendly owners. We loved the chiming of the Church bells opposite- very quaint. All in all we hada great stay. We will be back next time we are passing this way.

Lovely themed hotel in what appears to be a converted chapel, with each room named after poets. A handy car park off the road and a pleasant area to sit outside and consume your own drinks. The pub opposite has been closed for six years with little prospect of quenching a thirst in the near future, although information is provided on the nearest eating and drinking establishments. The rooms are pleasantly decorated with an en-suite with large fluffy towels and dressing gowns provided, along with tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. The only downside is the Church clock opposite which chimes every 15 minutes. Our double glazing was thick enough to keep out any noise (and I am a light sleeper) but earplugs are provided by the bed. The upside is the most amazing breakfast included in the price, which itself is very reasonable. Would recommend.

We booked The Belfry the day before we stayed there as our original plans had changed. The hotel had everything we wished for and more! Seriously comfortable room and bed and breakfast was simply delicious. We loved it and will be back again - thank you

An overnight stop. Good size bedroom, very comfortable bed. The breakfast was superb - plenty to enjoy with a good choice of cooked options. The chosen selection was freshly and beautifully cooked.

I really rate The Belfry, everything you need was provided to a very high standard, the bedroom was really clean and well equipped, there was thoughtful attention to every detail by the manager. Very warm welcome on arrival. Room was clean and beautifully laid out. Fresh milk and fruit juices available from the fridge. Breakfast was first class. Freshly cooked to order with the benefit of fruit compot,cereals, yoghurts and fresh toast available with all the usual toppings. Situated in a small village. Unfortunately at the time of us staying, the local pub was closed, with no clear idea of when it wouldbe reopening. Ideally situated for a short drive to Lyme Regis, with the benefit of having great value for money room rates. Would definitely go back if in the area again. Thank you for a wonderful short break.

The Belfry at Yarcombe is very clean and well laid out. As long as you are ok with a location that doesn't have shops and pubs in the village then it is a great place to stay and I would recommend it and would definitely stay there again. Very good breakfast with helpful staff.

The Hotel was very warm and had a fantastic greeting on my arrival. The Belfry Hotel was very clean and very homely. My Room was bright and clean with a beautiful bed and a really nice en-suite bathroom. The Breakfast was one of the best I have eaten in the UK. Overall my stay was excellent and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Arrived late but host was generous with recommendations for Dinner. We chose King's Arms Inn, and we're not disappointed at all. Wonderful food, great service, and very pleasant staff. At the BandB, the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was exactly as advertised. Enjoyed our stay greatly.

The Belfry is an excellent Bed and breakfast! The host is very accommodating, the room is spacious, clean and the shower is very strong and nice! The bed is very comfy and the cooked breakfast is superb! There is a ready supply of milk and fresh apple/orange juice in the fridge under the stairs! The location itself is very quiet so it's a perfect place to rest after a long day out! This is one of the best stays that we have ever had!!

I stayed twice in the same week, and experienced a cheery welcome, very comfortable beds, beautiful rooms, good showers, and wonderfully cooked breakfasts (using local suppliers' produce). Nice extras like a fridge with fruit juices available at any time, and a good selection of teas. I'll be back!

Arrived slightly ahead of schedule but called to check room was ready which it was. Welcomed on arrival and shown around property which is wonderful. Welcoming host, nice ensuite room with amazing countryside location so there were good views out of window. The breakfast was also very good. Definitely worth a stay if you find yourself in that neck of the woods.

We had a very nice stay here the day before our bike race. Room was nice and cosy and the host lovely! She recommended us a couple of pubs to eat locally as well which we really appreciated.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Belfry - our room and en-suite shower were extremely comfortable and welcoming. The breakfast was a real treat and we very much enjoyed the fruit pots!! A little more interaction with the hosts would have been nice.

I was 5 minutes away from my hotel in Somerset when I was hit by a 6-car lorry. The way the way Neil and Sarah looked after me both on the day itself, and the following 2 I was booked, was nothing short of special. They went far, far above-and-beyond the call of duty. Although I was alone and many miles from home, I was made to feel not so. They are truly amazing people, who have helped to somewhat restore my faith in humanity.Now to the hotel itself... It used to be a Victorian school, and still maintains most of the features. It is a quaint and cute boutique hotel, in a very picturesque village. If you like character and quirky this is definitely the place for you. Each room is individually decorated. It would be an ideal stop for anyone heading towards Cornwall. There is plenty of parking, and a town not too far away for restaurants/shops etc. You can even build-your-own breakfast to order, which is a nice touch.I highly, highly recommend this wonderful place!

Really enjoyed my brief stay.

we stayed for one night as a break in a journey from The Isles of Scilly to Yorkshire. Our rooms were well equipped and the beds were very comfy! Ear plugs were thoughtfully provided as the chiming church clock was in close proximity. Lovely bathrooms!Breakfast was comprehensive and enjoyable but the location of the dining room to kitchen meant that food was passed through a hatch for the residents to uplift... a bit quirky!

I am away for business a lot and this place is a delight. Lovely room with everything you could ask for. Comfy bed, clean bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee facilities, fantastic views from the room I was in the Tennyson room with fantastic stained glass windows but most of all a welcoming host.I would recommend to all if you are near the area it is worth the extra drive.

I stayed here because I was attending a business event nearby and it was a very last minute decision - but sometimes those are the things that lead us to the best discoveries.The conversion has been done very sympathetically and there are so many lovely little touches throughout - ear plugs if you need them, quality shower gel, amazing pillows and so on.The breakfast was also a real delight (I'd love to know where they get their sausages) and all cooked freshly to order.I definitely want to stay again.

What a lovely place, our room was great very cosey and lovely touches like the bathroom shampoos and great selection of teas coffee and cocoa, the hosts were really friendly and helped us pick a great pub for our evening meal. The breakfast was amazing and the whole place has a great feel about it, Thoroughly recommend this for a stay we loved it.

Travelled to Yarcombe to visit my Dad. His house was full so we booked to stay at the Belfry which didn't disappoint. The building is surrounded by beautiful countryside with breathtaking views. The welcome is warm, with the lovely smell of a warm log fire...The Belfry has been renovated with such empathy for the building, the huge stain glassed windows allowed the dawn light to colourfully dance into the room on awakening. The facilities provided were more than adequate, robes, beautiful fluffy white towels and soaps with wonderful aromas, it really was a treat.The beds were comfy, the ensuite was roomy, and the attention to detail to make it feel like a relaxing stay was spot on. So was the breakfast. If you have the chance to stay at Yarcombe's Beautiful Belfry, do!, I very much recommend it.

Welcoming , spotlessly clean , 'tastefully' decorated in sympathy with the Old School Building which it is .Very comfortable . Superb breakfasts and in a quiet village amid the rolling countryside of East Devon and Somerset. Within east reach of characterful pubs for excellentevening meals - and , if you want it , the sea as well .

A lovely place to stay, very comfortable, clean and thoughtful touches. Breakfast very good. Other people staying need to be aware of ground floor sleepers when using doors that might slam. otherwise it is peaceful and warm.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here along with some friends as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our rooms which were beautiful. The bed was exceptionally comfy with the softest throw ever! The tea / coffee amenities were stocked well and there was a fridge downstairs with milk and juice which was a lovely touch. The whole decor of the room and bathroom was lovely and there were toiletries provided inc shower caps and cotton pads. The price included breakfast which was amazing and you could definitely tell all the produce was locally sourced. Really easy to order as you just tick what you want and put it on the hatch. We all felt really comfortable there, we wish we could’ve stayed longer!

The Belfry is in an ideal spot when travelling to and from the South West. Easy to find with plenty of parking space. Bedroom compact but with all amenities. Comfortable lounge on ground floor for use of clientel plus a fridge with complimentary juices and fresh milk. Breakfast was comprehensive with lots of choice, plus cereals, toast and jams on a dresser.Overall I would recommend The Belfry and would look forward to staying again.

We booked the Belfry as a base for exploring Dorset and Devon. The hotel itself is clearly extremely well looked after and our room especially was clean, had all the extras you'd expect (teas, coffees, shower products) as well as an amazing stained glass window and super comfortable bed.Breakfast was included with the stay, with lots of choice and all cooked to order.Overall we couldn't fault our stay at the Belfry and would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.Brilliant

Having recently spent two nights at The Belfry, I found accommodation really lovely - charming, comfortable rooms, well equipped bathrooms and a calm and peaceful atmosphere throughout.The breakfast was exquisite - cooked to order using top quality local produce and nothing was too much trouble for the very welcoming hosts.I would certainly stay again and highly recommend.

Our 2 night stay at The Belfry was a delight.Our host Neil went beyond the call of duty to ensure everything possible was included in the room (Coleridge) even down to robes, scissors to cut open milk sachets and earplugs in case the noise from the road disturbed our sleep, which it didn't! There was even a cooling tower fan and a small electric heater if needed in cooler months.The breakfast was organised by filling in a menu sheet each day and was nicely cooked and presented.The Belfry was spotlessly clean and everything about the place was well organised.Would definitely stay again or recommend to other people.

A lovely place, warm welcome, clean & comfortable bed and a fantastic breakfast.Was travelling from Yorkshire to Cornwall so a perfect place to break the journey up with a great value overnight stay, would definitely recommend and will use again next time I’m doing this journey.

This was a lovely place to stay on our way to Devon. The property is lovely and has so much charm and character. The room we stayed in was well furnished with a very nice en suite bath. The breakfast was truly fantastic. Everyone was so nice and friendly.

Stayed on the eve of the coronation en route to Cornwall. Stepped outside at 10pm and the silence was wonderful. Owls hooting in the distance. Breakfast was great particularly the bacon and sausage. Before we left the church bells pealed in honour of the new King. Lovely place and nice little village.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Belfry! A large and very comfortable bed with sumptuous linens and pillows in a beautiful room with a gorgeous stained glass window and views of the beautiful chapel across the way. Breakfast was delicious and everything was prepared and served with the utmost care and attention to detail. I would stay again in a heartbeat. The Blackdown Hills have the most beautiful drives, adding to our enjoyment of our stay.

Very few places make a real effort to make sure you have all you need, I must say that the Belfry would put other B and Bs to shame. They made sure all the details were taken care of and the breakfast was superb. Would stay again and recommend without hesitation.

What a great location to tour Somerset from. An overnight stop on 14th April at very comfortable accommodation. Bathroom immaculate. Breakfast lovely (amp,e portion of smoked salmon). A meal at the Votkey Inn was one of the best we’ve had since before COVID. Would definitely recommend.

I only stayed the one night as i was working nearby in Honiton.Very nice, clean and tidy.The bed is really comfy, really nece proper duvets aswell, i didnt want to get out of bed in the morning, LOLThe ensuite bathroom is very nice,very spacious shower.Breakfast was excellent,could tell it was proper from a local farm.Very friendly aswell.Also very nice and quite locationWould recommend

Having stayed several times now i have found the rooms to be spotlessly clean and comfortable with quality tea, coffee and shower products plus little extras like cotton pads and shower cap. Breakfast is delicious with an excellent selection to chose from.

I was with my daughter visiting Exeter but opted to stay outside at The Belfry.We stayed in the Coleridge room, spacious room with a super king size bed, a feature of the room, beautiful stain glass window.The breakfast was amazing, choice was excellent.Efficient booking and checking in/ out. Best stopover we’ve found - just off A303 on A30, halfway between London and Cornwall so perfectly located. Even better was the comfortable room with large, excellent bed - all waiting for us to drop into without any fuss. Next morning, the breakfast was top notch - and efficiently served up so we were back on the road feeling refreshed and ready. We’ll be back!

We only stayed one night at the Belfry but we were very happy with our room. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Unfortunately the pub across the road is shut but we were able to drive to a pub about 3 miles away and had a very good meal. There was no noise from the road outside at night so we slept well. Overall a very complete stay.

This is a lovely clean and reasonably priced place to stay. Breakfast is lovely. Would definitely recommend though next to quite a busy road, but double glazed window system cuts the noise out and ear plugs are provided if you do open the window.

We walked into our roim and said wow! Fantastic leaded church window and the biggest bed I have seen. Very clean and lots of coffees, teas, biscuits and even ear plugs! Loved the bathroom toiletries and lovely batgroom. Breakfast was lovely and staff so friendly.

We decided to stay overnight on route to Devon. Very comfortable room with en suite and one very old church like window. Breakfast was enjoyable and we will book again on our next trip to Devon.

We stayed for one night prior to picking up our sin from Exeter university. The room was clean and comfortable with a good selection of toiletries. Excellent breakfast with a lovely selection of items. Picturesque setting would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful accommodation in a quiet village with views straight out of a movie.Stayed in 'The Shelley' on the ground floor. Room was a good size. Bed was very comfy with high standard linen. Bathroom was again a good size and the shower powerful.Slept like a log both nights with the window open. Some people have complained about the noise of the church bells ringing but they didn't disturb me at all.Breakfast was cooked to order and again of high quality.I would highly recommend The Belfry and would 100% stay there again.

A warm welcome. A very comfortable night's stay. And a really excellent breakfast. The choice of quality tea and coffee in the room was great.Our room was right next to the road and there was a bit of noise from vehicles. It's not too busy but our room was next to it. However, there was little traffic at night so it did not affect our sleep.

I typically spend 200+ nights a year in paid accommodation, having spent my adult life in the travel business. Many small hotels, B&B's or Guest houses in the UK operate the 'highest price/lowest quality' business model so it came as a very pleasant surprise to find somewhere that does the exact opposite. Investing in small details makes a real difference, and many British (and European) B&B hosts would benefit from staying a night at The Belfry to see how the small hospitality market should be done properly. A really personalised welcome, inviting comfortable room, quality touches such as Occitane bathroom products, (as opposed to the ubiquitous tiny soap bar packets), quality teas and coffee in the room, fairtrade tea, and a quality bed with quality bedding. The imaginative (and substantial) breakfast was quite simply the best I have had in any UK guest house. Other touches included a guest fridge with small bottles of fresh milk to take to your room instead of those ghastly UHT jiggers piled in a plastic basket. Throw in free car parking, some lovely old pubs for dinner and great views of rolling hills from the bedroom and what's not to like?A delightful place.

We found the hotel room clean and very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and gave us details of where to eat in the local area as well as some tips on where we could walk from the village. The Belfry is a lovely little B&B in a quiet village full of history. The rooms are clean and well appointed, bathrooms feel fresh and stocked with premium products. The "hotel information" sheet in the room gives useful information including local places to eat. The owners are helpful and friendly, and the breakfast they provide is second to none, with a great choice sourced locally and cooked to order. A great place to stay a little way off the beaten track.

A convenient stopping point on the way to Mousehole -easy to find and easy parking.Rooms were clean and had everything we needed.Breakfast was excellent. Although it is by the A30 the rooms are well soundproofed -we had a good nights sleep.Not mentioned in the description is the care they take to safeguard from Covid - really excellent. There is a pub across the road if you don't want to drive for an evening meal.

The Belfry cooked breakfasts were excellent, and the selection of cereals etc was really good - especially the 'fruit pots'- had not heard of those before - fruit, yogurt, muesli in a Kilner jar and worth a try.The bed was comfortable, and the whole place very quiet, with the decor a bit dim.The only down side was the TV, not smart, so no Netfix, BBC i player , or My5 etc. so only the bacis 4 channels, a real disappointment.

Excellent quality provided in the breakfast food, room provisions and furnishings. Unfortunately the proximity of the A30 right outside meant there was traffic noise and there is also a church clock opposite which chimes throughout the night which can result in disturbed sleep.

This is the second time I stayed at the Belfry, the rooms are clean with very comfortable beds, nice bathrooms with lovely quality toiletries and attention to detail. It's run by a couple who really take pride in welcoming guests and want them to have a good stay and come back. Brilliant cooked breakfasts - just a shame that the (community run?) pub opposite seems to have such short opening hours. A really good place to stay to explore the Blackdown Hills ANOB.

Booking process was easy and efficient, and arrival process friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom very clean; smelled a bit of the bathroom cleaner, but mostly dispelled with an open window and extractor fan. Walls are not very soundproof so could hear talking and TV from the next room and movements upstairs - but all was quiet after 1030. Bed was very comfortable. Couldn’t sleep with the window open because the church bell rings every 15 minutes - but earplugs are provided. Also if you are woken by light you may find the headlights of the very occasional passing cars disturbs you. Excellent breakfast. Nice fish and chips and a beer in the pub over the road for dinner.

The room was very well appointed with a sofa, bath robes, flannels etc. The highlight though was the cooked breakfast - I've never been offered a choice before of how I like my fried bread cooked! Stayed here for one night on the way to Falmouth. It was very clean and comfortable with a lovely rain shower. There is a separate lounge that you could also use to relax or watch television. It is in a peaceful location with parking on site. Breakfast was really good and well cooked. This was a very good value for money stay. We would definitely recommend and would stay again next time we are in the area.

The Belfry is an attractive building in a pretty, small, quiet village.Booking and communication ahead of time were good.On arrival the welcome was warm and friendly and were were quickly shown the communal areas and location for breakfast etc.The room was clean and well appointed.The bathroom was especially clean and modern with quality toiletries and towels etc.There is some transfer of noise from other rooms but this is very low and not intrusive.Breakfast is individually prepared and to a very good standard with good quality ingredients.Great choice of cereals etc and a very good yoghurt/fruit pot freshly prepared.Overall a very good experience.

The belfry is welcoming and fabulously comfortable with every thing you would need for a pleasant weekend stay or longer used as a base for exploring the wonderful surrounding countryside. The bed was comfortable and we had no noise pollution at all, even though they thoughtfully supply earplugs if you have a sad hatred to church bells which really are more of a treat than intrusion. Breakfast was wonderful and cooked to order. Could not fault this gem of a boutique b & b. Thank you for a great stay.

We were on our way to St Ives, and these days like to stop on the way. We found The Belfry very friendly and charming. We took their recommendation of the Candle Light Inn for dinner, and were very impressed; altogether a lovely way to start our holiday. Breakfast was lovely as well.If we had a suggestion, it would be that the bedroom was very dark at night, and it would have been helpful to have a small nightlight of some sort in the bathroom so that we could find our way should we need to move around in the dark.

Our stay at The Belfry was one night en route to/from Devon and Cornwall.It's an ideal location on the A30 for exploring locally or as a stopover point.The room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities.An excellent choice for breakfast.Plenty of parking spaces. A lovely place to stay prior to attending a wedding locally. Great size room and bathroom. The breakfasts were very tasty and beautifully presented. Lots of different teas and coffees in room and fresh milk. Yarcombe itself, as expected,is very quiet although looks like a pub is being reopened soon.Great place to stay to explore Devon.

Stopped overnight in this superbly converted school house located in a picturesque hillside village. The room was excellent - very comfortable and well appointed. Friendly staff although didn't see much of them due to Covid measures, which were reasonable. Breakfast was delicious and top quality.The only downside was that there is nowhere local to eat. There is a hotel/pub across the road but that apparently does not open until Sept 2021. It's a minimum 1 mile journey to the nearest pub/eatery. However, the hotel does helpfully provide a list of around 15 local (i.e. within 10 miles) places with recommendations.Unfortunately, I was there at the height of the holiday season and with most places requiring reservations I was unable to get in anywhere so had to make do with a takeaway meal from Tesco in Chard! My advice is therefore to think ahead and make a reservation a few days before you arrive.None of this detracts from the quality of the hotel accommodation or the service they provide. Highly recommend a stay here and once the place across the road opens evening meals shouldn't be a problem.

My cousin and her husband were down visiting from Yorkshire, we wanted to visit Lyme Regis and Honiton but didn’t want to stay in the busy towns, this b & b was spot on for our needs.The rooms were lovely and comfortable even on the hottest day of the year, breakfast was lovely too.Friendly owner, nice to have a chat. We’ll definitely be back when friends visit us as it’s nice to pop over from Hampshire.

We had the most enjoy able stay,beautifully decorated and furnished with lots of really extra homely touches,The bedroom had everything you may need and more , The bathroom had some really lovely toiletries and was well decorated.I dont think we have ever been to anywhere that has given you such a choice of teas,coffees,both filter and instant alongside hot chocolate and biscuits and all great quality.We will be using The Belfry as our go to when we visit family fromnow on,The breakfast was beuatifully cooked and had lots to offer aswell as choices for alergies , vegatarians and intolerenceson request,In all good quality, good price and we will be back .Thank you

All four of us, two couples, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful location. The Belfry has lovely rooms, fabulous views and an excellent host who prepares delicious breakfasts. We also really appreciated the small touches such as high quality products in the bathroom.

We love our visits to The Belfry. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and the breakfasts are superb.What really makes The Belfry stand out for us, though, are Neil and Sarah-Jane. Two of the friendliest and accommodating people you are likely to meet.So, hopefully, they will have to put up with our visits for some time to come.

We were delighted to discover this hidden gem on our way back home from Cornwall. The room was very attractive, a very comfortable king-size bed, a modern well equipped bathroom, with stained glass window and overlooking the village church. The decor throughout was modern and tasteful. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked to order. The very hospitable owners have transformed the place in their time here as explained to us after breakfast,before suggesting a lovely walk around the nearby countryside. The Belfry was spotlessly clean and very Covid safe. A recommended stay for overnight or longer. The owners also recommended a delightful pub restaurant nearby, The Candlelight Inn.

Beautiful character room with stunning views. Spotlessly clean and very comfy. Loved the freshly cooked breakfast. Great location with easy access to the whole area. Only issue we had were the church bells opposite that chimed every 15mins. It’s fine if you are ok with that but we needed to keep the windows closed at night.

I cannot fault the Belfry in Yarcombe in any way.The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room also had quality drinks making facilities and toiletries.The breakfast was of great quality using quality with a good selection.We were looking for a place to get away for a peaceful break…Yarcombe is perfect.The pubs and shops are quite a distance away, but the polite and welcoming owner of the Beltfry has informed us that the pub Just over the road will be opening in a matter of months, which (for us) would top the whole Belfry experience off.

The room was lovely with all the characteristics of the old building retained, but all the modern comforts especially the shower and bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent especially the fruit pots which I’ve never had anywhere else.The owner Neil was very helpful when we needed my husbands mobility scooter’s battery charged.I would not hesitate to recommend The Belfry to anyone I know

We had a very pleasant stay at the Belfry of Yarcombe which is located on the A30 and within less than 45mins drive to most places in East and South Devon. Neil our host was fantastic and lots of choices of cereals and cooked breakfast was lovely.

Stayed 1 night to split our journey from Cornwall. Warm welcome, very covid safe & the building is lovely. The walls are not very sound proof as heard the man snore all night next door but with the windows closed we never heard the church bells every hour which is opposite. Breakfast is included and it was fabulous, coffee/tea, cereals, yogurts, juice, toast and a choice from a full english breakfast selection. King room is the size of the room not the bed. Huge shower which was very powerful and hair dryer in the room. Great stay and highly recommend.

I only needed 1 night accommodation and they were so helpful. The room was lovely. The breakfast was superb. I will be back with my wife and stay longer next time.

The Belfry was a lovely place to stay, breakfasts excellent and room clean but it was right next door to the A30.This would not be a problem in winter or cooler months but as it was hot when we stayed we left the windows open at night and our sleep was disturbed by traffic and the church bells chiming. The owners do provide ear plugs but I would have preferred a lighter summer duvet and a fan in the room.

Attention to detail was the highlight of our stay at the Belfrey. We had a newly renovated room which was spotlessly clean, and breakfast was the best we had on our week long holiday. Loccitane products in the bathroom and high quality bedding made this a luxury stay.

The Belfrey provided a five star service from the initial booking. They were also very helpful when I enquired about a booking for an evening meal providing an excellent recommendationat a local pub.The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated with everything needed for a short stay available .Breakfast was an outstanding array of delicious food options .I would recommend The Belfrey to anyone looking for accommodation host off the A303 .

Very nice hotel with character in small hamlet but within range of coast and Exeter.Maintained to a high standard and a good breakfast with choice of freshly cooked items.Hotel does not have facility for evening meals but we had hoped to eat at pub opposite but this had been closed for some time and nowhere else to eat in Yarcombe so need to go out in car.We ate at The Flintlock inn at Marshand also at La Campagna at Buckland St Mary and both were excellent. They are shown on a map at the hotel and are around 5-7 miles away.

We really enjoyed staying at The Belfry.The room was spacious and I loved the windows with two different views, especially the lovely stained glass one. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows so soft.I had the best night's sleep of the holiday.The breakfast was tasty and once we got used to the arrangements in the dining room, everything was very well organised and Covid secure.If we were in the area again, we would certainly come again.

The bathroom again, was very clean and well equipped BUT instructions on use of controls in the shower would be good. I couldn’t change it from the overhead shower and I didn’t want to wash my hair! Breakfast was very good. Lots of variety and very nicely cooked.All COVID precautions were taken and well organised.

Smart, well managed, off the beaten track B&B - ideal stopover. Great rooms and breakfast but no evening meal option. When we stayed (Oct 2020) the Yarcombe Inn pub opposite was closed and awaiting new tenants. Taxis proved to leave no choice but to drive due to the £50 price tag for a 20min journey. Having said that - driving to The Candlelight Inn in Bishops Wood was a fantastic choice for our evening meal.

My partner and I decided on an evening away from it all! The Belfry ticked all the boxes. Immaculate attention to detail in the room, a real vibrancy to the building. I was happy to have the church bells resounding at 4am, it gave it the atmospheric feel we were looking for. Was somewhat perturbed at the static clock at 0630!!! The breakfast was divine, quality matched by the service. Will definitely return and spend longer to walk around the gorgeous surrounding countryside.

Sparkling clean, fabulous breakfast, very comfortable bed and lovely toiletries supplied. If you are travelling to the Candlelight Inn atBishopston for dinner, which we recommend, make sure you write down the directions. We considered it ’too far to walk and the roads not safe to walk along but well worth the drive. Especially after dinner being able to finish our drinks outside by a wonderful warming fire pit.

Having stayed at the Belfry on a number of occasions in the past, it was reassuring to find that the quality of the stay (and the breakfast) was as excellent as ever. It was clear that Covid-19 issues had been carefully assessed and addressed, we felt very comfortable during our stay and would have no hesitation in returning.

This is a charming place to stay. The rooms are very clean. The beds are huge and comfy with nice and crisp bedding. The rooms are well equipped and the bathroom even has lovely toiletries provided. Currently there is limited interaction with the hosts but I am sure usually they are very hospitable. There is a fridge to use and and ironing board and iron. Plenty of parking. Bring some snacks as there is nothing nearby, just a very beautiful church. We had a minor issue but the hosts very quickly did their best to resolve it.

We stayed at the Belfry for one night to break our journey to Cornwall and found our room spacious and comfortable and the bathroom well-provisioned with L'Occitane products.COVID-procedures were in place and welcome.We took up the owner's recommendation for dinner at the Cotley Inn in Wamsbrook and had a truly fabulous meal there, although a bit of a wander through very dark, narrow country lanes to get there but well worth it!A good full English breakfast the following morning was a great start before our onward journey.

What a fantastic location, brilliant hosts, super breakfast and the room was fantastic, all in all we had an amazing stay

I have mixed feelings about our stay here because in all fairness it was a top star hotel but in the first night I got very little sleep due to our room being opposite a village church chiming every 15 minutes and a busy road. However every thing else was fantastic from the breakfast to the wonderful lotions and shampoos. This is a boutique hotel so rooms are smaller than normal. The close location to main roads meant getting around was easy. The village is mostly farming. We did go for a walk but it was a little scary with the farm vehicles speeding around when you are used to town traffic.

After missing out on visits in March and June due to lockdown this trip was much anticipated. As usual the welcome and hospitality were outstanding. Neil and Sarah-Jane have made every effort to ensure Covid-19 safety. The room was great with a super comfortable bed. As for the breakfasts - simply unbeatable! We look forward to our visit in March 2021 when hopefully the world has returned to some semblance of normality. Thanks Neil and Sarah-Jane.

The B&B is very nicely presented and comfortable and the breakfast was brilliant. Even with the issues because of covid for a business like this the owners have managed to keep things very pleasant for guests.

The room was comfy, the breakfast excellent, choice of teas & coffees very good.Hosts were great.Only downsides no shaver point in Bathroom. Extractor in Bathroom wasn’t automatic so window was running with condensation if you forgot to turn it on. Windows misted up in Bedroom because of the secondary glazing & spoilt the views.Good stay though, weather was kind.

We had a small (Keats) but well equipped room with a great modern bathroom, with a fab shower. We had a good sleep- and made a coffee when we woke up. The breakfast was lovely- hot, fresh and very tasty. We read in the lounge and really enjoyed the night.

Lovely set out B&B, we used it as a base to attend a socially distanced wedding in the country. Lovely owners a fantastic breakfast. I'm sure there are some wonderful walks you can do from there as well. I would stay again, just be prepared for the church bells chiming at every 15 minutes (they stop between 23.00-07.00,but they do kindly provide ear plugs as well).

We stayed at the Belfry for 4 nights in July and had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and our bed was super comfortable. Everything was done to ensure social distancing was maintained and we felt very safe. We can highly recommend Neil’s fruit pot for breakfast! A great location for exploring South Devon.

The Belfry is in fact a converted Victorian school building put up in 1872, which gives added character. It stands on the A30 overlooking the lovely Yarty valley. There is good parking off-road and we had a warm welcome on our arrival from our hosts - our first time away since the Coronavirus lockdown eased. Good hygiene precautions were in place and we felt completely safe. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. We were recommended a very good bistro pub in a lovely Somerset village about 10 minutes' drive away for our evening meal, and it did not disappoint. The only possible downside could be road noise, but the A30 was quite quiet whilst we were there and we had a good night's rest.

Very comfortable bed and wonderful breakfast. I was so reassured by all the new covid implementations it enabled me to enjoy my stay and just relax. I Definitely would recommend the Belfry as I have stayed there many times and it never disappoints.

My husband and I stayed at The Belfry at Yarcombe for three nights in July 2020. We stayed in the beautifully and tastefully newly refurbished Coleridge feature room with fabulous views over the Yarty Vally and a gorgeous stained glass feature window. The room was decked out in an array of luxury from the tea and coffee making facilities to the L’Occitan products and the complimentary robes. A lovely comfortable super king bed gave us good nights sleep. Neil was most attentive and made a great breakfast every morning. Whilst taking care to adhere to all of the COVID - 19 guidelines it was done subtly and sympathetically. There are beautiful views from the terrace where we enjoyed an glass of wine each evening while watching the sun set behind the Vally.Yarcombe itself is a pretty village small and peaceful but within easy reach of most of Devon’s tourist attractions. There are the most spectacular walks with breath taking views right on the doorstep.This is by far the best B&B we have experienced and would highly recommend it.

I couldn’t fault my short stay at the Belfry. My room at the front of the building was clean and as described, with a comfortable bed, decent broadband speed and parking in front of the building - the L’Occitane toiletries were appreciated.Breakfast was fantastic. I opted for the cooked “Belfry”, but there were plenty of other options.It wasn’t a problem for me, but light sleepers should be aware that the Belfry is close to the road. It also has a church (with bells) on the opposite side of the road. Earplugs are supplied if you need them, but I was fine.I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Neil and Sara-Jane were friendly and welcoming and the Belfry is ideally located.

What a great weekend we had , we based in Yarcombe as was central to where we wanted to be our accomodation was amazing it was so cosy and warm the bed was fantastic and the bathroom perfect and so clean very high spec , our breakfast was first class and cooked to perfection our host's were friendly and helpful .All in all we would highly recommend staying here .

I needed overnight accommodation whilst en route to Exeter.The Belfry was ideal - 30 miles from Exeter, and close to the A303.Able to arrive late.Room comfy.Great breakfast!Lovely location!

What a lovely place. They had thought of everythingFluffy robes , biscuits, a fridge with juice and milk outside the room, lovely kippers for breakfast , most comfy bed ever.Would definitely stay again.Highly recommended.

The Belfry is a perfect place to stay . There has been a tremendous amount of thought gone into providing all your homely comforts for your stay . Extremely friendly and welcoming,Neil showed us to our room , and explained various pubs and restaurants we could visit. However , after a 6 hour drive from Sussex , traffic was dire , we decided to go to the pub across the road . It has only been reopened for about 4 months after being closed for 4 years . I’ve got to say , we really enjoyed it , good selection of drinks and although only a few things on the menu , the curry we had was really good . The young couple running it were very friendly and polite.After a good nights sleep , we had a cracking breakfast cooked by Neil . There was everything you could have wished . Will definitely be going back in the future . We stayed in the Keats room , but I would imagine all the rooms are equally as cosy and homely

We had a lovely few nights in the comfortable historical property. I loved the charm and details of the Belfry. Everything is in great shape and it is obvious the owners take pride in their establishment. Our room was the largest one and had beautiful a huge and beautiful stained glass window. Particularly enjoyable was having a hot bath at the end of each day in the large tub and is the only room having one.The breakfasts were perfect with such a great variety of anything you would want, including a full English breakfast or scrambled eggs with salmon, many jams, cold cereals, fresh fruit, and juices.Neil was very helpful answering questions and providing maps and tips of the surrounding area.

Never stayed here before and as I regularly stay out for work this one is definitely on my "must stay again" list.

Lovely stay, beautiful accommodation, and an excellent level of attention to detail, if you go somewhere for the little details and extras this place is for you. Breakfast was very good, hosts friendly and accomdating. Rooms are well proportioned, clean, and very comfortable beds. The only feedback is the soundproofing between rooms could be better. It's an older building so probably difficult and expensive to rectify. If you are a very light sleeper do consider, apart from that though absolutely go!

The accommodation at the Belfry is excellent. The hosts are most welcoming, the rooms are spacious, clean with lovely views of the countryside. Our bed was comfortable, particularly following a long flight from Australia, whilst the nearby church bells rang hourly the sound was hardly audible. The highlight of the stay was the superb breakfast cooked individually for each guest by Sarah Jane, certainly a great start for a day of touring in the Devon countryside. Would we stay stay here again, most definitely. The hosts will also provide excellent recommendations for evening meals.

We enjoyed a very relaxing two night stop at the Belfry. We were made very welcome and all amenities were provided.The breakfast was very good and made using local produce.

We had a lovely stop over here on our way to St Ives.We were greeted warmly and shown to our room.There were lots of lovely touches: poetry to read, a range on hot drinks, delicious toiletries and even ear plugs.The bed was very, very comfortable with lovely sheets and the shower was luxurious.Breakfast was varied and tasty.What more could you ask for really?

We really loved our one night stay here : the room was if anything even better than the pictures and had all the facilities we would need.The greeting on arrival was very friendly and very efficient and ensured that we had all we needed.Directions to the dinner venue were very useful. Breakfast was fantastic!the couple that run this place would hard to make this place perfect and we would definitely recommend this as a place to stay especially is travelling to or from the West Country.

BEDROOM AND BATHROOM WERE FAB WITH DRINKS, BISCUITS AND REALLY NICE BATHROOM PRODUCTS FOR YOUR USE. EVERYTHING HAD BEEN THOUGHT OF FOR A LUXURY STAY WITH A PERFECT BELFRY BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING - DELICIOUS!

Very enjoyable stay. Breakfast excellent but as a mature couple, would have preferred a walk in shower.

Such a beautiful room and they thought of everything, including earplug for the very loud church opposite which chimes every fifteen minutes throughout the night and day.We are vegan and were given a vegan breakfast which like many other places, was pretty small in comparison with the meat one, which looked huge! To be fair, there was cereal, tinned fruit and toast available, but it would have been nicer if there had been some hash browns or something.

After a hiatus of four years we returned to The Belfry. The welcome we received couldn’t have been warmer. Neil and Sarah-Jane remembering us from previous visits despite the number of guests that have visited during the ensuing years. The comfort of the rooms and quality of the breakfasts have remained excellent over those years.What makes The Belfry stand out for us, however, is Neil and Sarah-Jane who deserve more than the five stars available.Expect to see us again on a regular basis.

Lovely accommodation, 2nd time I've stayed in 4 weeks.Room and en-suite clean and tidy. A hearty full 'Belfry' English breakfast is strongly recommended.Neil and Sarah-Jane make you feel most welcome.

We arrived late in the evening and first impressions were very good. Spacious room with a lovely big bed. The breakfast was excellent and the hosts friendly and welcoming.The downside for us was the shower over the bath which was dissapointing.

We had a very nice stay at the belfry. Very clean and breakfast was excellent. This was our second stay and it still has the high standards it had the first time.

It’s a great building,very similar by looks like the little cathedral. Situated in tiny village almost in the middle of nowhere, very nice sceneries around the bands leading to the property.Inside was very clean and one of nice things about the owners was this lovely late check it, we arrived around 8.49pm and we were most welcome. In the morning we received again a most friendly hospitality in our home made breakfast. All ingredients were from the local farms.It’s a very good stop for all travelers.

What a fab place this is to stay.Five star accomadation for me and should be upgraded to five stars on the door.Neil and Sarah -Jane were great hosts.The breakfast was delicious and set me up for the days work.The bed was comfortable and it was like being at home.I really enjoyed my stay and will definately return one day.

Came across the Belfry by chance and very glad I did. A converted Victorian School with Links to the famous Drake family.Spotlessly clean , very comfortable rooms & bed, very friendly warm welcome, excellent breakfast.would I stay again, without any doubt .

This is a fab place to stay. With the first threat of snow, in the 2018 winter, the heating was on full blast, as my wife and I were shown to the Coleridge Room, with its 6ft super King bed. The Belfry’s 6 rooms are all named after famous poets, which, if time had permitted, we could have read some of his poems, contained in a book in our room.Dinner beckoned and Neil, one of the owners, suggested we go to the Candlelight Inn in the nearby village of Bishopswood. Unfortunately, Yarcomb’s only pub is currently shut. However, the meal at the Candlelight was superb and just an easy 4 mile drive away.Once back, we retired to our room and enjoyed the most comfortable night in a truly fabulous bed, one of the best we have ever slept in, away from our home.Breakfast was also simply fantastic. I had their fry, including the duck fat fried bread, as a bit of away from home treat. It set me up for the day.All in all, this is a great place to stay; not far from the A303, but far enough to think you are away from it all.We will be back!

This was our second visit to 'The Belfry' and as before everything was perfect . A great location and excellent service from the hosts andthe breakfast is very very special .

Overlooking the village church with a functioning chiming clock, this B and B provides a quintessential village stay. The beds are plump and soft, the shower hot and the toiletries by L'Occitane, the towels refreshed daily and the 'in room' refreshments copious..I had to ask NOT to have biscuits. Excellent choice of teas and coffees and juice and fresh milk available in the downstairs fridge.An interesting building and one that has challenges no doubt but makes for a great B and B. The decor was slightly dark for my taste but no matter, it's clean and cosy, warm and relaxing. There is a guest lounge as well as a breakfast room.Breakfast was good, fine choice of fruits to accompany yogurts and cereals. Cooked breakfast was lovely, I stuck to scrambled egg and smoked salmon the whole time I was there.

The Belfry is full of charm. The owners are very friendly and know the area well, so can advise on routes etc.The breakfast was full of locally sourced products and home made jams..delicious.My room had cotton sheets on the bed, great in this recent heatwave and the bathroom had L'Occitane lotions and shampoos.The whole Schoolhouse was stylish and very comfortable. It is situated not far from Chard, Lyme Regis and Honiton so easily accessible by car. A very enjoyable stay, Thank You

We holiday in the South Westtwice a year and The Belfry is always our stopover betwixt London and Devon. The wonderful sleep, followed by the best of breakfasts and the warmest of welcomes from Neil and Sarah -Jane in their beautiful hotel sets us up perfectly for our holiday ahead. We would not by choice go anywhere else.

What a gem of a hotel.Although I only stayed one night it was a delight. I asked for early check in which wasn't a problem.My room was Bryon, it was clean, comfortable the bed & pillows were so soft you just sank into them...heaven.The bathroom had everything you could think of, all the toiletries you would need for an overnight stay and spotless.Breakfast is what you'd expect, yogurt,fruit & juices,freshly cooked fried breakfast- nothing pre cooked and dry as old boots here.I will visit again and will recommend.

Eight of us have had a most wonderful stay here. Rooms, breakfast and general ambiance was excellent and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating. There's plenty of information on places to eat and visit and the lounge is lovely to sit in whilst you make your decision.My partner had a lovely birthday and storage of necessary wine etc for the evening was no trouble at all.If you like relaxed, comfortable and lovely accommodation this is the place. I can see us returning .....

A great place to stay - spotlessly clean and fantastic bed. The room was equipped with everything you could need - and more, with fresh juice and milk available if required. Superb well-equipped bathroom and shower, easy parking and friendly, helpful host. As long as you don't mind a drive to the nearest shop or restaurant, it's a perfect location.I'd definately return.

Arriving at the Belfry, we were welcomed from the time we stepped foot in the door. The service was excellent, the place was warm (despite being around 0 degrees outside!), and had an amazingly homely feeling.Peaceful and quiet, and easy to find we shall certainly be coming back again (this time to try the supposedly amazing breakfast!)

What a delight, Sarah and Neil couldn’t do enough for us, even russled me up 2/3 gin and tonics, as it was my birthday! The breakfast was the best I’ve had at any bed and breakfast. In fact I think if they went on the TV programme 4 in a bed they’d win hands down. I would recommend to anyone. 👍

A real gem of a B and B ! Nothing was too much trouble - we booked the wrong room - wishing to stay in a room with a beautiful window but we were swiftly settled into the room we wanted with no fuss. Comfortable bed and spotless room with a lovely shower room - flannels, L’Occitane toiletries and large fluffy towels. Lovely touches included real coffee bags ( and decaf bag too) with fruit juice and speciality tea bags available too. We hope to return.

Had a fabulous stay, where the staff were amazing and so friendly. The place was lovely and the breakfast was to die for. Would recommend this to everyone I know without hesitation.

A wonderfully comfortable room with glorious views. Lovely facilities including a downstairs fridge with juices and water to help ourselves from, and a very comfortable bed - they even provided a lavender pillow spray!Our host suggested a local walk to the pub, which took a good deal longer than we expected but which was very pleasant and did us the world of good. If you go on this walk, however, take a strong torch! - we fortunately had one with us but there was no lighting on the way back.Fabulous breakfast in the morning set us up nicely for the rest of our journey. We had booked this as a place to stay on our way to Cornwall from Hampshire, and for this purpose it was really ideal - a super place with thoughtful hosts, ideally located for visits to nearby beauty spots.

As a family of four (children 20 and 12) we booked two rooms at this lovely B&B which was in a very convenient location for our holiday plans. Breakfast was very nice as were the rooms and we very much enjoyed talking with owner Neil who gave us some useful tips on where to eat and where to visit. Only slight niggle was with the shower in the boys' room, but this was solved by them using our shower. Would certainly recommend and we look forward to visiting again.

This was our 3rd visit to The Belfry and as before it was fantastic.Neil and Sarah-Jane are very welcoming and helpful and they just make you feel right at home and relaxed.The room was very spacious,comfortable & clean. The tea and coffee in the rooms is good quality and fresh milk is always available in the fridge downstairs along with fresh fruit juice. When it comes to the breakfast I have never had a better one anywhere and there is really good choice to suit all tastes... We can't thank them enough and will be returning.... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a wonderful restful night at The Belfry followed by a superb breakfast. The fried bread was just like my grandmother's!The bed was really comfortable,the toiletries and the little extras such as the poetry books made everything a little bit more personal.We had a warm welcome and the surrounding area is beautiful. We loved the feature window. We thoroughly recommend this hotel.

A lovely location in itself but also an ideal stop off point if you are travelling further west. Easy parking also.

Very nice stay,the room was lovely and staff were very friendly.The only negative point i would say is there website needs to be updated as it states there is a pub the yarcombe inn across the road but when we stayed this pub had been closed for 3 tears or so which was a bit disapointing.

The Keats room we had was lovely. Fantastic shower, wonderful breakfast and congenial hosts.Would go again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful, comfortable and absolutely spotless room which had everything you would need, including poetry anthology by the poet the room was named after! Bathroom (including power shower) was fab. The breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. Great location too. Really can't fault The Belfry. Highly recommended.

Stayed as a group of ten at the belfry for a get together and walking weekend. Great accommodation, owners couldn't do more for us,very welcoming. Fantastic roast Saturday night in our own dining area. Lovely breakfast and comfy rooms and beds. Coupled with good walking countryside made for a perfect weekend.

Although only staying for the one night we were welcomed warmly and could not have asked for a more friendly place to stopover.Hopefully we shall return.

A charming little place, full of character and hospitality. A little out of town but a lovely drive through beautiful countryside so not a problem.I'd definitely stay there again if I happen to visit the area in the future.

From the warm welcome, friendly advice on where to eat......foolishly I had overlooked the necessity to book a meal at the Belfry in advance....I will remember that next time. Attended a wedding so stayed overnight ....Wow!! what a treasure this place is.Stayed in the Tennyson ...Beautiful largestained glass window,the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.The extras that are not only in your room but throughout the building are so thoughtful .....It was lovely.I emailed Sarah to ask If we could book in much earlier to enable us to change for a wedding...This was no problem for her,she had both rooms readyLastly the breakfast ....Its the best breakfast I have ever had....all local ingredients, the sausages are fantastic.Neil and Sarah are a great team....always smiling and helpful.Would recommend to anyone.

Although I stayed for only 1 night on my way down to Cornwall I thoroughly enjoyed it.The room was spacious and comfortable with the extra thoughtful touches - like biscuits and a dressing gown; Breakfast was excellent. All in all a 5 star experience.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner to ensure we had a memorable and comfortable stay in this little haven. All the facilities were well appointed and there was plenty of tea/coffee/chocolate available in the room as well as free fruit juices.Our stay was beautifully capped by the 'Belfry' breakfast which was superb.Unfortunately we only needed a one night stopover but hope to return soon for a longer stay and would highly recommend.

Staying at The Belfry is a real home from home experience. Set in a peaceful location you will find a friendly welcome and well appointed rooms with comfortable beds. I have not been lucky enough to experience the restaurant but if the full English breakfast on offer here is anything to judge by, it will be good.

We stayed here for just the one night to help celebrate our wedding anniversary. We chose The Belfry because of other positive reviews and particularly the food reviews in the restaurant, we were not disappointed. Both the evening meal and the fantastic breakfast were very much up to standard and the welcome and service far exceeded that given by other more corporate hotels, friendly and smooth but not rushed.No doubt we shall return.

We stayed at The Belfry to attend an evening wedding reception in Stockland. The hotel is excellent, very homely and has everything you need. It has a lot of charm and character and felt like home from home. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had and it was a shame we were not there for dinner too! I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and Sarah-Jane and Neil are excellent hosts! Thank you!

I rarely give 5 stars because this means nothing can be improved upon, therefore 4 stars for this little gem. On arrival, i thought the outside looked a little tired and worried that it may be a place of former glory. I arrived inside and was greeted by the male owner who extremely friendly and welcoming, showing me the little fridge under the stairs for extra milk etc, and then to my room. I was in 'Tennyson' at the front of the building looking over the main road and across to the church. There was a beautiful stained window that was thin and looked v fragile, and i was told of the costly replacement bills for each window. The whole place had clearly been recently decorated and new carpets. My room was sweet and cosy. The shower was amazingly powerful and hot after a bit of perseverence. Lovely L'occitane bath products to use while there. A nice soft bed with pillow mist on the side. Lots of lively considerations such as a small bottle of wine at a £10 surcharge. Ear plugs with a note explaining that the clock may disturb me. I didn't hear it although the road got wuite busy in the morn.I also enjoyed a lovely breakfast from a good choice menu, cooked to order. It did seem a slight inconvenience that i'd drank the wine and that needed to be added to the receipt that had already been prepared, but other than that, it was a lovely stay and i would definitely recommend.

Stayed overnight in this B & B and loved the special characterful room and setting. Just great place and nice hosts, though road was a tad noisy from early on due to road works traffic. Great place and highly commended.

Overall an enjoyable stay. There was some initial confusion with the room booked as we had booked a room with a kingsize bed and the room given had a standard double; this was soon sorted by Neil who put us into the room with a superking bed.The school house is a nice looking building but some of the needed repairs are being held back due to the building being listed.

Refined and highest quality spacious bedroms in beautiful country home. Access to living room, spacious dining area, and free juices, etc., at will. Great varied breakfast cooked to order. Hosts couldn't be nicer. Parking free and easy access.

What a find this amazing place was, and an unforgettable dinner. Didn't realize Sarah Jane had some experience at our other favourite stay Le Manoir. Watch out Raymond she is every bit as good, if not better!A really special place and we can't wait to return.

We found the Belfry purely by chance and had a delightful stay on our way down to Devon.Lovely warm and clean room, an excellent dinner and a great breakfast, all served up by the lovely friendly owners.What more could you ask for?

A very comfortable one night stay on our way to a funeral at East Devon Crematorium (less than 30 minutes away). Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Only minor disappointment was that the room did not have a bath, which my wife prefers, despite the fact that the website indicated that the room we booked did have (but it did have a great shower).

I stayed in the wordsworth room which was beautiful.The whole place is in a beautiful old church style building and is clean, comfortable and welcoming.Lovely and quite with great wifi making it great for a business trip.I will be returning

We stayed in the Byron Suite for two nights.The food is excellent and would recommend for a short reviving recharge of your batteries. Close to the Jurassic Coast with all that has to offer.

Beautiful building and tasteful rooms with nice touches such as posh toiletries and tea/coffee, plus fresh milk. Shame we couldn't eat in the restaurant but had lovely meal at local pub (The Candlelight Inn). Very nice breakfast. Would stay again if in area.

We truly enjoyed the stay at the Belfry for a couple of days. The bed was very comfortable and even though the Inn was full our room was absolutely quiet. The breakfasts and dinner were outstanding. A warm welcome, a gorgeous room that was beautifully decorated and bright, clean and stylish. All my requirements were met however if I has needed anything else I feel the owners would have happily obliged. The food was outstanding, beautifully cooked and mouthwatering flavours and a work of art to indulge the senses. I would recommend a stay here, and although my room was near a road and opposite a church neither of these things interrupted my sleep and I'm usually a light sleeper.I had an amazing stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I was in the area. A big thank you.

Just got back from staying at the belfry.had a lovely 3 nights there.our hosts were lovely.neil and sarah jane can't do enough for you.our room was (the byron) was spotlessly clean everything you needed (and more) was there.food was fantastic.michelin star quality.breakfast was very good.locally scourced ingredients is always a plus dfor us as we are passionate about our food and where it comes from,will definatley be back for more.
