In this beautiful, peaceful part of the world we try our hardest to offer our guests a peaceful, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay.  It is fair to say that what we do is not for everyone.  We don't serve burgers and chips and we don't have bar stools, or satellite TV in the bar.  Nor are we a gold-plated taps and marble floor type of establishment.

What we offer at The Belfry is a home-from-home, high-quality getaway for discerning adults who want to kick off their shoes and relax over some terrific grub and a great glass of wine.

For some people Yarcombe is too quiet - there is no nightlife here and no amusement arcades.  For others we're just a little too informal, allowing our guests to come and go as they please.  But as we said, we're not for everyone and it would be foolish to try to be so.

We're a non-smoking establishment, and that means we do not expect our guests, and even our friends who smoke to do so anywhere in the building.  Occassionally we have to point out that leaning out of the window doesn't constitute smoking outside, and we ask our guests to bear that in mind.  It is a sad fact, however, that some people refuse to respect our wishes in this regard and feel that smoking in their room or even in the shower is fine and will go unnoticed or unchallenged.  This is wrong.  Having met a few individuals with this attitude we have decided to formalise our response to those who will not observe our non-smoking rules.  Henceforth anyone we believe has been smoking anywhere in the building will be charged a cleaning fee and asked to leave immediately. 

We don't accept children under 13 years of age.  We know that many kids are impeccably behaved.  Likewise we know that some adults are not!  So maybe we should say we welcome "grown-ups of all ages"!  In any event The Belfry is a place to escape TO, not a place our guests want to escape FROM!

And finally stress-free.  Well, that's stress-free for you, not necessarily for us!  Join us at The Belfry with a mind to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, the beauty of the Blackdown Hills, freshly prepared delights from the kitchen and a genuine warm welcome and you'll forget all about stress!
