The Yarcombe Inn

The villagers of Yarcombe now run this inn as a community venture and have re-awoken this wonderful old coaching inn, once more making it the heart and soul of the village.

It is said to have once belonged to the monks from Mont Ste Michel in France, and along with the rest of Yarcombe was later owned by Sir Francis Drake.

There is a selection of superb Real Ales and guest ales, as well as an excellent range of spirits, wine, cider, lager and soft drinks.

The Candlelight Inn at Bishopswood, a wonderful old pub with a slightly contemporary feel plus Flint walls, wooden floors and open fires, Gravity pulled beer, local ciders and good food served daily and a blooming garden for barbeques and sunshine. www.candlelight-inn.co.uk

The Kings Arms at Stockland combines the traditional feel of a village pub with public bar and skittle alley with a great menu and fantastic wine list.  The service there is always friendly and with the choice to dine in one of three different areas you can have anything from a quick bar meal to the full monty! www.thekingsarmsinn.org.uk

The Howley Tavern at Howley is the nearest pub to Yarcombe and as well as serving food has a great pub-y feel to it.  With pool table and TV in the lounge it is the place to go to meet us Yarcomb-ites and our neighbours over a pint. www.thehowleytavern.co.uk

A bit further afield - but only about 6 miles or so and definitely worth a visit is The Lamb and Flag at Blagdon Hill. A really beautiful pub dating back to 1647 and was formerly an old Coaching Inn. The atmosphere is full of character and tradition and the setting is charming and picturesque.
