The Yarcombe Inn
Our "local" is a traditional village pub serving good beer, nice wines and great pub food. You are assured of a warm welcome by Lyndsay and Alan. Their style is relaxed and informal but they run their pub with a professional touch that makes it exactly right as a village local. Sadly we don't get to spend too much time in the pub...but maybe on reflection that's not such a bad thing! But we often pop in for a lemonade when time allows.
Yarcombe is also fortunate to be surrounded by other little villages each with their pub, each with its own style and atmosphere, nearby you will find:
The Flintlock Inn at Marsh. The menu at The Flintlock is always interesting with dishes that are well thought out and great value for money. More a dining pub than a drinking pub The Flintlock has a relaxed atmosphere in a cosy setting.
The Kings Arms at Stockland combines the traditional feel of a village pub with public bar and skittle alley with a great menu and fantastic wine list. The service there is always friendly and with the choice to dine in one of three different areas you can have anything from a quick bar meal to the full monty!
The Howley Tavern at Howley is the nearest pub to Yarcombe and as well as serving food has a great pub-y feel to it. With pool table and TV in the lounge it is the place to go to meet us Yarcomb-ites and our neighbours over a pint.
A bit further afield and definitely worth a visit is The Blagdon Inn at Blagdon Hill. This is one of the best appointed pubs in the area and has a great menu, great wine and really great staff. It's the pub we go to if we can sneak out for a lunch!
