We are a Boutique Bolthole in the Blackdown Hills. Once a Victorian School, the Grade II listed building has been sympathetically restored to offer characterful and individual en-suite rooms. L'Occitane bathroom products, huge fluffy towels, beautiful bed linen and mattresses everyone raves about make a stay, a wonderful stay.
This together with dining in one of the old school class rooms with just 10 covers makes it an intimate affair. Dining is predominantly Modern British but with a French influence....we dont do miniscule portions thogh so bring your eating boots! (We specialize in cooking for Coeliacs too). A sample would be (the monthly menu being under "food and drink":
Pan fried Scallops with dry cured Barleymows bacon, crispy White Pudding and a Scallop, Whisky and Cream Sauce
Twice baked Cheddat Cheese Souffle with dressed leaves and Balsamic

Our boutique accomodation, whilst keeping the character of the building but adding a comtemporary touch here and there is within the beautiful Blackdown Hills near Honiton in East Devon. Ideally situated between Honiton, Taunton and Chard and only a short distance from the Jurassic Coast. Exeter too with the new Princesshay Shopping Centre and Airport is only 30 minutes away.
Originally the Yarcombe village school dating back to 1872, the school building was originally commissioned by the family of Sir Francis Drake.
So close to Honiton, all its antique shops and the surrounding area with the comfort and friendliness of a bed and breakfast combined with the quality and level of service you would normally expect from a much larger hotel.
Our restaurant caters for all dietary needs including Coeliacs / Gluten Free, Wheat Intolerence, Nut Allergies and Vegetarians / Vegans. As everything in our menu is made on the premises, we can adjust the content of dishes to suit your requirements - just phone Sarah-Jane to discuss.
We also specialise in House Parties and would be delighted for you to take The Belfry over as a venue for a night / weekend / few days on just a bed and breakfast basis or let us create a bespoke weekend for you with a tasting menu or just your favourite dishes. We can accomodate a maximum of 12 guests.
